A progressive social policy think-tank that has all publications searchable by date, author or subject.
CANADIAN CENTRE FOR POLICY ALTERNATIVES (CCPA)
An independent, non-partisan research institute concerned with issues of social and economic justice. This link has fact sheets on key issues, while their website also has a vast catalogue of reports, studies and policy briefs under "publications."
CANADIAN COUNCIL ON SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT (CCSD)
A non-profit social policy and research organization that focuses on issues like poverty, social inclusion, disability, cultural diversity, child well-being, employment and housing. Their website has numerous links in the following categories: social policy; social indicators; alternative media; poverty; welfare and income security; housing and homelessness; children, youth and family; union and labour; economics; health; international; city, and government.
The CCSD also has a comprehensive "fact sheet" on poverty.
THE CANADIAN POLICY RESEARCH NETWORK
Their website contains a section of research reports on children, youth and families.
CARE: DEFENDING DIGNITY, FIGHTING POVERTY
A detailed toolkit with strategies for developing advocacy skills. Also provides helpful tips on analyzing policies, outlining an advocacy strategy, finalizing the strategy and framing a plan.
INSTITUTE FOR RESEARCH ON PUBLIC POLICY
Their website contains a search tool that allows you to search all of its publications by subject, author and date.
LEVELING THE PLAYING FIELD FOR CHILDREN: A COMMUNITY ACTION TOOLKIT BY THE BC CHILD AND YOUTH ADVOCACY COALITION
A Community Action Toolkit that provides information and resources on how to level the economic playing field for children and youth, including advocacy work around issues such as early learning and child care, child benefits, affordable housing, and parental leave. It also includes a detailed explanation of poverty in Canada, Canada's commitments, the measurement of poverty, as well as fact sheets on different social policies and programs.
NATIONAL COUNCIL OF WELFARE (NCW): GOVERNMENT OF CANADA
The Council publishes reports and communicates with the Minister on a wide range of issues involving poverty and social policy. Their website and publications are searchable for reports, fact sheets, press releases, speeches, news media and public statements.
